Want 6-Piston Brakes Without Replacing Your Rotors? Meet the New 27WON Big Caliper Kit for the FL5, DE5, and FK8

Want 6-Piston Brakes Without Replacing Your Rotors? We Got You.

We already built the full-send option. Our 27WON 6-Piston Front Big Brake Kit for the Civic Type R and Integra Type S takes the factory braking setup and gives it the full treatment: bigger calipers, upgraded 2-piece rotors, brake pads, stainless lines..the works.

And it’s awesome.

But there was one question we kept hearing from FL5 and DE5 owners: “What if I want the 6-piston calipers…but I don’t really want new rotors?” Fair point.

27WON Full Big Caliper Kit (Redline Red)

Enter the 27WON FL5/DE5 Front 6-Piston Caliper Kit. It’s still got a whole bunch of parts on top of just the calipers like stainless lines, brake pads, and all the hardware. Don’t worry. We’re just calling this one our Big Caliper Kit. It’s not a Big Brake Kit.

We kept a strong focus on delivering a better pedal feel, longer consistency, better heat management, and repeatable braking performance but without the cost of upgraded rotors. Sometimes less can be more. Let’s dive into the full deets…

27WON Big Caliper Kit (Installed)

This new kit takes a different approach. Instead of requiring our larger 355MM two-piece rotor package, we developed a revised caliper mounting bracket specifically to position the same 27WON 6-piston caliper correctly with the FL5/DE5 OE front rotor setup. You keep the rotors. We bring the pistons. Six of them, to be exact. They’re staggered in size for better pad wear and balance.

Pistons are made from Stainless Steel. Why? Heat. Your brakes live in one of the nastiest thermal environments on the entire car. Start stringing together hard stops or spend twenty minutes chasing somebody around a road course and all that kinetic energy has to go somewhere. Spoiler alert: it becomes heat. Stainless steel does a better job resisting heat transfer than materials commonly used for brake pistons, helping reduce the amount of heat making its way into the brake fluid.

And brake fluid prefers not to be boiled. Trust us on that one.

27WON Big Caliper Kit (Stealth Black)

A larger caliper also allows use of a larger brake pad. This means more torque can be applied to the rotor for better performance. Our included Street-oriented pads give you a combination designed around real-world drivability and spirited use while more aggressive compounds are available for drivers repeatedly putting serious temperature into the braking system like our optional Red Track pad or a slew of other compatible options from the likes of Hawk, Ferodo, or AP.

27WON Big Caliper Kit (Redline Red)

So if we were going to make the caliper bigger, we were going to make sure it looked the part too. You’ll have your choice of Redline Red or Stealth Black.

Redline Red brings the motorsports attitude and gives the car that unmistakable big-brake look. Stealth Black tones things down for the owner who prefers a more understated setup. Either way, the finish is designed to tolerate the temperatures performance brakes experience without turning into a sad, discolored reminder of your last track day.

27WON Big Caliper Kit (Stainless Steel Brake lines)

Rounding out this kit are a set of DOT approved stainless brake lines to remove any of that last mushy feeling you may get from your factory rubber units. As always, all the hardware and instructions are included for a quick and painless install as well.
