The Holy Grail!!! 27WON Launches the Final Piece of the W-Series Family of Turbos, the W3

The Trifecta is finally complete.

Over 5 years of leading the 10th generation Honda Civic in development and innovation has resulted in the BIGGEST, BADDEST, and MOST CAPABLE W series lineup of turbochargers we have ever made.

If you want to squeeze the most horsepower and torque out of your L15 engine and you want to do it with a trusted name and a truly drop-in bolt-on upgrade that does not require tons of customization then the W3 is the turbo for you.

Before we dive into the specs let's take a quick review of its two smaller siblings, the W1 and W2.

The W1 was revolutionary in what an aftermarket turbo upgrade could be for the Honda community. A turbo that bolted up to your L15 Civic like it was equipped with it from the factory. No cutting, welding, or crazy standalone ECUs. It was a unit you could swap into your whip in a few hours, tune, and easily make 50+ HP and 75+ torque. It set the gold standard for the next generation of turbocharger performance.

Then came the W2. Bigger housings and a larger CHRA took everything the W1 did well and made it better. More reliable, more powerful, and more capable, the W2 was the evolution in how much power this L series engine could make.

Available in both a BB and JB version, it is still one of our most popular upgrades. It’s capable of making 350+ WHP and TQ. Yet still there is a special breed of enthusiast that wants more. A group who wants to squeeze every last bit of power out of the 1.5L. 

Now let me get to the point. The W3 is not for the faint of heart.

This isn’t your stage 1 upgrade or for the “I got a few bolt-ons and want to go big turbo” crowd. This is for those who are invested and have laid out the framework for the ultimate in power and performance.

The W3 is capable of making over 400+ WHP with room to spare.

Starting with a similar framework as the W2 it has a large TD05 CHRA. This housing and bearing system moves a bunch of oil and coolant around keeping all those critical rotating parts nice and cool. In performance-driven fashion, this W3 is coming to you only in our ceramic ball-bearing variety. This was done intentionally to improve boost response and to help take the maximum loads of boost thrown at it and not give in under pressure. We are talking about 30+ PSI. That's a lot of POWER!!!

The compressor wheel steps up from 47mm to 50mm on the inducer and from 58mm to 68mm on the exducer. With these larger trims we can move the air needed to get the 400+ digits. The exducer wheel was massaged to the fullest with an increase of 15% in size to spin up the comp wheel.

This combination of changes means that the W3 is capable of 450+ HP and TQ with the right mix of parts. Let's talk about that right mix of parts real quick. The W3 requires some serious supporting mods to work as it is intended. We suggest that the W3 be placed on built engines due to the amount of pressure you are going to be putting on your rods and pistons. The stock pieces aren’t really capable of supporting 400+ HP. Second, you will need a comprehensive fuel system to have all the petrol you’ll need to get a shot at those high numbers. Just a tune for flex fuel is not going to cut it. Bigger injectors and fuel lines are a must. A Race MAF and 4 bar MAP sensors will be needed on hand as well as a good custom tune to bring it all together.

The W3 doesn’t have the quick response like the OEM turbo or the W1. It is going to hit peak torque later than the W2, so keep that in mind when you pick this up. Your driving habits will need to adapt for the larger turbo you are trying to spool up. It’s going to hit later than the W1 and W2 but believe me when it hits it hits HARD!!!. It’s a unit for those quarter-mile masters and highway roll racers. As with any of the W series of turbochargers you get everything you need for a seamless install. All the hardware, components, and install instructions to do this work up in your garage along with a limited lifetime warranty.
