OPEN WIDE!!! - High Flow Intake Snorkel Releases for 11th Gen Honda Civic and 5th Gen Acura Integra

What is up Honda Fam. Welcome to part 3 of our design blog series for our intake snorkel for the Honda Civic and Acura Integra.

In our last blog we dove into the design of this air intake snorkel and our goal was make it fit just like OEM behind the bumper. Today in part 3, will go over some of the performance data points and drop you a link to purchase one of these air ducts so you can experience the benefits for yourself today.

Let's quickly recap intake design from previous blogs.

To make more horsepower and torque from an intake system you need to achieve two key points; 1) Move more air and 2) source colder, more dense air. Let's talk about how the new 27WON Snorkel does both.

MOVE MORE AIR

Taking a closer look at the OEM “upper guide plate” and then looking at it compared to the 27WON Snorkel you can see that size is everything.

Recall that when we looked at the OEM upper plates in part 1 of our blog series that every trim of Civic and Integra had different shaped ducting around the air inlet. The EX and Integra have limited boundaries for air being channeled through the bumper. Only the Si had any sort of enclosure to get air into the intake.

Right off the bat the 27WON Snorkel directs more air over the base trims as it gives a direct path for the air to get to where it needs to go.

When we look at the Si snorkel we see that the opening is 70mm tall and 150mm wide making it 10,500 square millimeters in size, and its perimeter is not sealed. The 27WON unit is 82mm tall and 146mm wide for a total surface area of 11,972 square millimeters with a sealed perimeter. That means we can move ~15% more volume through the inlet opening. This larger opening gives greater potential to force feed air to your air filter which will allow the ability to make more HP and TQ, especially at higher speeds.

GET COOLER AIR

By having the opening of the Snorkel mated right up against the bumper you get the coolest air possible, that being ambient air. So if it's 60 degF outside then 60degF is the coldest IAT we can expect to see. If you are in Las Vegas like we are and it's 115degF outside then sadly the best we can do is 115degF.

Over the course of our testing real world driving scenarios, we were able to confirm cooler IATs with the Snorkel installed as the engine starts to heat soak. The hotter it is outside (or the more you sit in traffic), the more the engine heat soaks and the more the Snorkel starts to work its magic once you get rolling.

Of course we love the fact that we can bring you a part that increases power potential. This part also looks awesome. The addition of the 27WON Snorkel behind your grill gives your late model Honda a menacing look. There is just something about that big blue or red intake duct that screams I am fast and I am here to eat. We love how it pops behind the grill. These come in red and blue, matched as closely to Honda colors as we could get. Not into flashy? No worries, as always we offer in a black color as well to blend right in like it never even happened.

The necessary hardware to install will be in your package to make this yet another easy 27WON install.

The snorkel works with all intakes stock and aftermarket.

This Snorkel is the latest piece of what we are developing to become the most comprehensive intake tract upgrade system for the 11th gen Honda Civic and 5th Gen Acura Integra and we are eager to see these on your cars.

Order yours today and OPEN WIDE!!!!

Thanks for tuning in and as always be sure to….
