Making Accord Exhaust Tips Pop - 10th Gen Honda Accord Exhaust Design Pt. 2

Welcome to part 2 of our design blog series for our 2018 to 2022 Honda Accord Exhaust system. In part 1 we broke down the OEM design and hinted to you guys that we needed to deal with the OEM metal shrouds attached to the rear bumper so that we could create a system that is truly unique to the Accord and REDEFINE in a way only we know how. In today’s blog, we talk about that very part. Read on below and see how we added flare to the CV2 Accord.

Generally, you purchase an aftermarket exhaust system for three main reasons; Those are performance, sound, and aesthetics. So you want a system that can get you some more ponies under the hood by increasing flow and reducing back pressure. You want a system that sounds like a world-class orchestra is under your seat and you want a cat-back exhaust that looks awesome. Our team paid special attention to looks and this is what we came up with.

First, we got rid of the OEM metal shrouds. That’s right we ditch them completely. The OEM exhaust terminates with some mufflers and an odd upturn tip that dumps into this metal shroud. I guess it looks okay but you just spent some money on the best Accord aftermarket exhaust so let's show it off a little. Now we did not just remove the OEM shroud and leave an empty space. That would look too cheap. Instead, we designed a nice fiberglass replacement shroud to fill up this space. This new half-clam shell design opens up the bottom so there is room for a nice exhaust tip. Check it out below with the OEM exhaust still on the car.

Now I know that may look kind of weird on the car with the OEM exhaust. But this open shroud style allows us to bless the car with some oh-so-sweet tips for the rear end. Unlike all the other aftermarket systems that retain the factory shrouds and give the impression that you didn’t even upgrade your exhaust, the 27WON kit will stand out and show the world what you are rocking. The new shroud design grants us the opportunity to do away with OEM turn-ups and extend out with some nice polished tips. We designed a pair of slant oval cut tips that look great on the Accord. It’s a tip design that is unique to the Honda Accord and fills up the space with its oval shape and the slant cut follows the lines of the car. Its polished finish against the matte black shroud puts all the focus on your new piece of jewelry under the rear bumper. Check out these drawings below to see the visuals come together.

You can see in the pics above how our unique slant tip oval design works with the 27WON shroud. They are two pieces that work together to look better than OE.

We’ve been putting this exhaust through the paces for many months to dial in the right exhaust sound and volume and get NVH right for our Accord customers. Our goal is that this system is not as loud or has as much cabin vibration as it might if it were for a Civic.

Our formal release is scheduled to happen in a few weeks. We’ll have a new blog with beauty shots and open up the product listing so you can be one of the first to get the best CV2 Accord exhaust on the market.

Stay tuned
